The Future

So... By now you've seen my new social network! Has that got you thinking about the future of te internet? Well, it certainly got me thinking about it. With so much changing it's hard to imagine what might be next. Even with blogs. I mean, there are so many topics that are out there for viewers like us to enjoy. So what is the future with blogs. For those who aspire to be bloggers, those who enjoy reading blogs, and everyone in search of information, I've posted two links to articles about the future of blogs. Enjoy!!

The Future of CupCakes

So... if I were to continue writing this blog I would like to add more recipes. Unfortunately, my living situation in LA right now really limits my ability to cook homemade goodness in the form of cake, but I would love to bake and decorate. I'd like to share ideas on how to combine frostings with cake for any occasion and post pictures and share with friends. I think that would be awesome. Hmmm.... it's making me want to continue writing just so I can eat some more cupcakes!!

Cup to the Cake

For all who love cupcakes and want to talk about them, share recipes and tips, or just get great ideas I have created a new site for you. It's pretty bare for now but let's fill it up!! Go to cc-cutie.socialgo.com and check it out! Leave comments and tips on how I can make it better as I go...after all I've never created a networking site before.

The End of Cupcakes?

I came across this article the other day by Sarah Fuss of Yahoo entitled, Cupcakes and 6 Other Food Trends That Have Lost Their Cool.

Needless to say I had to check it out. (you should too) After reading the article about dying food trends I thought to myself, "Could this be the end of cupcakes?" Obviously it won't be the definite death of these small treats. Kids all over the world will need cupcakes for birthdays and we will continue to make them for bake sales and get togethers. But what about those cute little shops I've been visiting lately? Will they become a thing of the past? I for one certainly hope not. And most of the comments on the article thought the same thing.

But also this brought another thought to my head: My cupcake blog will be ending soon. As I said in an earlier post, this blog was an assignment for a class. I'm saddened to say that I will be leaving the cupcake world behind. Ok, of course not behind... I love cupcakes too much!! But my blog will become a passing trend like the article said, or at least a diminished one. Who knows, I may have to update it every now and then with great recipes and new shops!

Sprinkles CupCakes

I'm sure most of you have heard about Sprinkles Cupcakes. You know, the little cupcake shop frequently visited by celebrities like Katie Holmes. If you haven't heard about this shop then let me introduce you to the most popular cupcake shop in the LA area. If you don't believe me just take a look at that line. The only thing I've seen close to this in LA was the line at Diddy Reese, a cookie and ice cream shop (totally different concept; equally delicious).

Anywho, Sprinkles Cupcakes boasts tons of flavorful treats, the option to buy the mix, t-shirts, doggie cupcakes, and frosting shots (yes actual shots of frosting). Basically, this shop is a brand. This brand however has a lot of bad press ranging from bad cupcakes, to being overpriced. So, I decided to test it out.

Now, I have to say, that when it comes to cupcakes I'm not particularly picky. I mean, they're cupcakes... What more could I ask for. So I couldn't call these cupcakes bad. But I also wouldn't call them the best cupcakes I've ever had. They are extremely rich, so rich that sometimes it's hard to finish one. Plus you shouldn't eat that little sprinkle in the middle. It's definitely not good.

So my overall opinion: It's worth the experience. It's located in the center of Beverly Hills and has become a staple of the area. It's kind of just one of those things you have to do.

Stars: 3 out of 5: worth one shot...of frosting that is :)
Price: $$$ at 3.35 a pop these little treats certainly aren't cheap.

Here's what other people had to say about it on Yelp.

And here's the map if you want to check it out for yourself.

CupCake Videos!

Here are some great videos I found about, you guessed it, CUPCAKES!!!!

When we think of decorating cupcakes we often think of cute flowers and pastel colors, but this video shows the manly side of cupcakes.

I know I talk about cupcake wedding cakes a lot, so here is a video of a woman who makes them.

This video is a simple tutorial on how to decorate cupcakes. It's a great start to any design.
